Why do you need organisational access?
The way Silver Siphon works is a bit tricky and technical. At present it is impossible to create a proper bank feed in Xero via the API. Silver Siphon adds your transaction data as a bank statement by uploading information as if it was you doing it. As soon as the Xero API supports the functionality we need to do this without access, we’ll be adapting the way Silver Siphon works.
How can I synchronize my old transactions?
Transactions will only be processed from the day you signup. If you would like to backdate transactions, drop us a line at the support desk. A flat fee of US$9 per month applies except in special circumstances.
I clicked the synchronize to Stripe button and nothing happened
Sync is done in the background, and transactions will appear over a 10-20 minute period.
Does it work in currency X? Does it support multiple currencies?
Yep it will operate in whatever currency account(s) you select in the Xero part of the services page. Xero only supports one currency per bank account. Set up an account for each currency you want to use in Xero. Then go to the services page and relink Xero, selecting one account for each currency in the list.
How are the bulk payments into my bank account reconciled?
During the usual setup as shown in this video, you create a new account in Xero called “Stripe” or similar. Silver Siphon pushes the individual transactions go in to this account (positive amount), as well as the fees (negative amount) and bulk transfers (negative amount). Those bulk transfers show up as positive fund in your traditional bank account, so you just match these as a transfer.
I received an email saying “Unable to upload transactions to your Xero account”, what’s going on?
There are three things to check:
- The user email@example.com has been invited to the Xero account
- There is a specific Stripe account in Xero, and it is visible on the dashboard of your Xero account
- Accounts must not be locked. If there is even one transaction in Stripe inside a locked period in Xero, it will fail. You can set this by going to Settings -> Financial Settings in Xero
